When you’re a lifestyle photographer, you can’t always have the perfect day (photographically speaking) so that sometimes means shooting in less than desirable conditions. December in Australia can be pretty unpredictable and most times, it rains on Christmas Day. This day was one of those days. I had seen the clouds building out at sea and actually considered cancelling the shoot and re-scheduling for a better, less wet day. But the Simpson Family were ready to go, so we went and did the shoot, anyway. About halfway through, the sky opened up and pounded us with massive drops of rain for about 15 minutes so we all had to run back to the car for shelter to wait it out. But it wasn’t long before the worst of it eased and we could commence shooting… and what kid doesn’t love to play in the rain, right? Eventually we did have to stop because the rain stuck around, but it certainly was a fun shoot.
