Military Wedding in Stockholm
Every once in a while, what you throw out into the universe actually comes back to you. It had been a bit of a dream to mine to photograph a military wedding in Stockholm so when I was contacted by a lovely lady while I was on my photo-safari in Morocco, I knew I just had to respond. Her sister was getting married and she was in charge of finding a photographer to document it.
It didn’t take long for Aurelia and I to strike up a bit of a conversation and even shorter for us to realise that this could be a great working relationship. I am so glad that her sister, the Bride, Desiree and her wonderful Husband Per ended up finally choosing me as their photographer because it was a truly wonderful day. But to back track a little, meeting Desiree and Per, I felt like we just clicked. Desiree has this infectious smile that just beams right down from inside out and it’s easy to see why Per is so taken with her.
They met over 21 years ago, have 3 beautiful children and have been going strong ever since, so when they decided to get married Stockholm seemed perfect for them. Desiree’s family is originally from Cuba and Per is Swedish and their kids are just SO adorable. I love when cultures mix so well and it’s a recurring theme with most of my couples having very diverse backgrounds. This also makes for some really exciting happenings at their weddings. For example, Desiree and Per had a Cuban band play for them when they danced their first dance together and even though the Latin Grammy Award Winning violinist’s strings broke on the first note he played during their Ceremony, he made up for it and gave Desiree a huge entrance theme song for her to dance out to her man to during their Reception at Myntkabinettet.
Per wore his Military uniform for most of the day, but as soon as they had relaxed after their Ceremony, he changed into civilians and looked just as dapper in a classic black tuxedo. Desiree and her amazing mermaid style dress and classically long veil looked the picture perfect and together they made my experience of shooting a military wedding here in Stockholm one hell of an awesome day.
