When I met Jennifer and Kristian for the first time on Skype, I knew that working with them in Malta for their Wedding would be simply amazing. And I wasn’t wrong. The day before their Wedding we were scheduled to do their Pre-Wedding Shoot at a place called Golden Sands in Malta at sunset and we were scheduled to leave about 90 minutes before sunset, as I was told by hotel reception that it would only take 30 minutes by taxi to get there. It turns out that this was not the case and it would take closer to 50 minutes!
In a bit of a kerfuffle, Jennifer, Kristian, their MOH, Me and my gorgeous assistant Sally all scrambled to get a cab to try and make it before the sun disappeared and we quickly changed destination to a place called Djingli Cliffs, which was slight closer. And get a cab we did. But we probably ended up with the oldest, most pre-cautious cab driver in the whole of Malta who had a thing for grinding the gears and suffocating us all with the fumes from the crunched clutch!
I have to be honest. I didn’t think we’d make it. And while I’m sitting in the back keeping my eye on the horizon to check the level of the sun, Jennifer was in the front seat blatantly urging the cabby to drive faster through the speed cameras. I went from panic to laughter in that cab ride about 50 times and it was all I could do not to pull him through the window and drive myself.
Eventually… we made it. And just in time for the golden hour. I think this has to be one of my favourite shoots of all time. Not just for the beautiful couple and the incredible light, but also for the hilarious cab ride. I mean, going up hill in 1st gear and then breathing clutch fumes with commentary from a very witty bride was simply hilarious. Best. Pre-Shoot. Ever. LOL
So anyway. Enjoy. It certainly wasn’t easy getting to this AMAZING location in Malta but it was most certainly worth it. I don’t think I’ve seen light like this in all of my travels. Simply gorgeous. And Jennifer and Kristian aint so bad, either. 😉
